KEYNOTES

1. Introduction of the “Comprehensive and long-term strategy of the Hungarian health industry”

In Hungary, the health industry is one of the most dynamically developing sectors. This sector accounts for 3 percent of the total Hungarian industry.

The strategy can be divided into 8 main areas: pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, herbal medicine, genomics, bionics, health tourism and the e-health background industry.

The main goal is to increase the added value of the domestic healthcare industry, through the development of the innovative SMEs. The presentation will introduce the concrete actions identified in the national strategy.

2. Development of National eHealth System

The National eHealth System is a central IT service infrastructure that has laid the foundations for communication between the Hungarian hospitals, clinics, general practitioners and pharmacies. More than 70% of the prescriptions are issued electronically and the remaining 30% paper prescriptions are automatically digitised while being issued. The decision is supported by a rapidly and quaryable cloud-based patient database that helps the physician develop the most effective personalised treatment. In the future, the aim is to develop an interface to enable telemedicine services and mobile applications. Among the further developments, there is a strong emphasis on the standardisation of health records for each form of specialised care, which is a requirement for the effective operation of artificial intelligence-based learning algorithms.
